Russ needs a home !!

I was recently laid off and am having to sell my house - which means I need to find a home for Russ. He's a German Shepherd mix, neutered, housetrained, friendly with all people and children, playful, healthy, up to date on all shots.

 He plays well with other dogs once he has time to get to know them for a couple minutes... loves cats (but sometimes likes to chase them - playfully).

 What else? He walks well on a leash, can sit, lay down, roll over, turn around in cirlces, play dead, and high-five.

 He's a great dog - but he needs a new home. Please let me know if you know of anyone who might be able to help.

 Thanks!

If you need some assistance finding pet-friendly rental housing I would recommend any of the following links.  Giving up a dog is very hard on the dog.  Not only that, but millions of animals have to be euthanized in shelters every year just because there aren't enough homes for them all.  If there is any way he can stay with you, the person he knows and loves, it is best all around.

* Cincinnatti Apartments at RentNet.com

* Move.com

* PeopleWithPets.com

* HSUS Renting with Pets

* HSUS.org "13 Steps to Finding Animal Friendly Rental Housing"

I definitely recommend reading the article above from the HSUS.  Sometimes even if apartments don't say they allow pets or only allow a certain size, arrangements can be made on a case by case basis.  However, if you feel you cannot keep your responsibility to your pet here are some other helpful links...

* HSUS Guidelines for Finding a Responsible Home for a Pet

* Best Friends "Finding  a New Home for a Pet"

I hope you are able to find a solution for Russ.  Good luck!

If you are going through ruff times then keeping your dog will help keep your spirits up.  You don't have to give him up because you are moving.  It sounds like you have some money invested in this pet as well, and a dog is relatively cheap to feed.   Just my two cents....look into the pet friendly rentals.
