We used to go to Gold Coast as well, and we did receive good treatment. HOWEVER, we had 2 complaints. 1. We took our dog to Dr. Katz at one point because her heart beat seemed irregular. She said our dog just had an irregular heart beat and she was absolutely fine. We took our dog back to GCAH for another reason a few months later, and decided to get a second opinion on her heart while we were there. The vet we saw that time (don't know his name, but he was younger) said she absolutely had a heart murmur and needed tests. We finally took her to another non-GCAH vet, who said that she does have a murmur, but it is very slight and won't need treatment. 2. COST. I moved to Chicago from Oklahoma, so I knew vet costs would be substantially more. GCAH was the first place we went since we lived in the area, so I had no idea that they were overcharging; I just assumed it was Chicago prices. We moved to Edgewater several months ago and decided to take our dog somewhere closer to home. It was while I was looking at other vets in our area that I discovered just how much we were overpaying at GCAH. For my dog's yearly shots, etc., this year, we paid half what we did at Gold Coast.
