Hey guys... anyone else really upset by the conditions and euthanasia rate at the Prince George's County shelter? I work for one of the local DC rescues, and through my work I have discovered some appaling facts about the shelter- up to 75 animals can be taken in one day, animals, even puppies and kittens, only have hours before they are put down... it's disgusting! If you have any insight to the shelter, we are working on some things to get them help and attention... shoot me a message!

I have been periodically posting adoptable cat announcements for P.G. county (see below) to Yahoo! groups and a few local rescue organizations. In addition, Karen, timothy126@aol.com, places announcements on local Craigslists.

Prince George's County Animal Management Division has a terrific rate of intake--reaching and exceeding 200 animals per day--but a very low rate of adoption placements. Please take the time to drive down to Forestville and visit these eminently adoptable kitties. Only a portion of Prince George's County animals appear on Petharbor.

I have been on Pet Finder.com site where the PG County Shelter has several dogs listed that are clearly abused. One even had a bloody nose and was being restrained. If a dog is aggressive maybe it should not be up for adoption. Some of the photos they have listed for available dogs look they are in terrible shape and the cats don't look any better. The more I looked at the more angry I got, I have a rescue dog who came to me in poor condition and now he lives like a king!!!
