invisible fence

Hi,

We recently installed an invisible fence for our 6-month-old lab mix.  Long story short, he is terrified of it.  We followed the training instructions we were given to the letter, but after he went to the fence and received the shock twice, he became afraid to go outside.  I've been taking him out as much and I can and giving him treats and praise, and he is getting better.  He will go out willingly now, but will not go very far from the house.  This morning he actually approached the flags that are set up for a visual boundary, and when his collar beeped (we have the shock turned off) he turned away and came back to me but didn't freak out and run back inside like he has done in the past.  He did seem nervous but I was still able to get him to walk around the yard.  Seems like he is starting to get over his fear but I don't know what to expect next or where to go from here.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Stacey
