English Bull Dog Owners?

I have always loved English Bull Dogs.  Many people have warned me not to get one because of all the health problems.

I just melt when i see one.  Anyone have good experiences with English Bull Dogs?

I can suggest getting a well bred Boston Terrier instead. They have the same squishy face, snoring, snorting and breathing noises, and because they come from a similar line (Old English Bull and White Terrier mix?) they have a lot of the same friskiness and mischevous qualities with tons of personality... just smaller and more muscular. A good breed can also be soooo cute, as opposed to the crooked-eyed blends that are popping up because of indescriminate breeding.

I have a 7 year old English Bulldog (Bob) and a 1 year old French Bulldog (Gizmo). I wouldn't trade Bob for anything in the world. We got him from a very reputable breeder, which is really important. He hasn't had any more or worse health issues than any other breed, aside from cherry eye as a pup, which was $65 to have fixed. He is funny, gentle, playful, loveable, intelligent, and really laid back. He won't walk as far as some other dogs do, and he can very definitely be stubborn. He went to school as a puppy. He is well mannered and does what he is told to do. He loves to lay on the deck in the sun and he loves to watch the stars at night while he eats cherry tomatoes off his tomato plant. Bob loves other animals and is even friendly with squirrels and rabbits. He is a favorite among our family members and is the honorary mascot of the American Legion Post 253 and a Boy Scout troop in the city we used to live in. He is awesome. When it's time for Bob to leave us we will most definitely get another English Bulldog. A bulldog's enormous capacity for love is unmatched by any other breed of dogs I know.
