psycho dog!!!

My mother-in-law's dog is driving everyone in the house nuts!  He is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (2yrs).  He will EAT anything from his chew toys to underwear (perferably dirty) to tissues.  Anything he can steal from whatever door is accidentally left open.  When he gets ahold of something that he shouldn't have, he goes bulistic.  His eyes get blood-shot and he growls at anyone who comes near.  We are afraid he will eat something that will harm him. Moreover, we are at a loss of how to handle him when he is in this psycho stage.  There are small children in the house as well and we want to protect them.  Help!!!!

I would suggest not letting him loose in the house. Keep a leash on him that is attached to an adult in the house that way he is always with someone. Also, have you tried to offer a trade for what ever he has? like a smelly treat that he loves? Where is he at when no one is home? Have you/they crate trained him? (sorry about not seeing this post earlier)

Your dog is not psycho. Your dog needs obedience training Your dog also needs to learn what he can chew on and what he can't. Don't offer him an alternate substitute....take what he isn't supposed to have and replace it with what he can have. This is non negotiable. Don't be intimidated by your dog. That makes him the alpha dog
