I love The Dog Whisperer show!  They are now promoting a special Illusion Collar that is designed to keep the collar in place high up on the dog's neck.  This is great for correcting a dog while on walks, etc. I'd assume.

Does anyone have insight on this or has anyone purchased one before?

Knowing nothing about this collar, my immediate reaction is that this is just a gimmick to make some money off the Dog Whisperer name.  Don't get me wrong, I love the show too and my trainer and I think Cesar Millan is an excellent trainer and positive personality.  But notice how on the show Cesar Millan uses whatever collar or leash is on hand? He even uses a piece of rope in some episodes.  It's not the equipment that trains the dog, it's the human. Just my 2 cents!

This special collar is designed to hold in place high up on the neck (where the neck is most sensitive).  My dog's neck is shaped in such a way that the damned collar falls down a lot, no matter how tight I tighten it before a walk.

You're probably right though ---it's more about me than about the product!

My husband and I bought the collar and its AMAZING. We have a 85-90lb boxer and this is the first time I have had FULL control over him on walks. We think cesar does NOT push it on his show- because he does not need to. He is not trying to market anyhting- its offered. I for one- do not think he is out to take peoples money. i beleive he is a true healer of dogs and he couldnt wait to get it. Its humane, it does NOT come off and you have FULL control. He has enough clientele in california that prob take the collar and pushing it on his show is unnecessary.

ITS GREAT!!!!!! Hope this helps!!!!

Something to consider when we look at any "training tool" is what it is designed for.  Is it really a "training tool" or is it designed to force an acceptable behavior on the fly, without really teaching the dog.  As you work with this collar,  ask yourself if the dog will be able to walk, infraction free,  without it, after a week, a month, a year...  If the answere is "no" , then it might not be for training...It imight merely be a restraint.  Do you want to teach your dog and inhance your relationship or do you just want to coexist?  I haven't seen the product so I don't know about it specifically.  This may be a good way to look at any new device.

The popular  Gentle Leader is often misused by folks as a management tool.  (I'm guilty of this myself.)  But with TRAINING, it can be priceless!  This new collar may be a phenominal training tool...but you have to train to make it that way.  I always tell my clients, "The purpose of ANY training tool is to GET RID of IT!!!!"

Good Luck!
