Washington, DC, Church to Hold Blessing of the Dogs
Washington, DC—All dogs and their owners are invited to attend the Blessing of the Dogs at National City Christian Church (5 Thomas Circle, NW, Washington, DC) on Sunday, August 5, 2007, from 10 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. This unique event, which will take place on the front steps of the church, will celebrate our love for our canine friends. Senior Pastor Stephen Gentle will lead the blessing, which also will include a solo music performance by Alia Waheed.
“Dogs and all pets play such a special and important role in so many people’s lives,” explains Pastor Gentle. “This dog blessing is intended to show our gratitude for the companionship, loyalty, and unconditional love that these animals bestow upon us each day.”
All dogs—big and small, young and old—and their companions are encouraged to attend the blessing, which is being held in conjunction with the seventh annual MidCity Dog Days Celebration Weekend. Staff from Dogs by Day, a doggie daycare and boarding facility located on 14th Street, NW, will be on hand to ensure all dogs and their owners are well-behaved, comfortable, and content during the 20-minute blessing. Green Pets, a pet store also located on 14th Street, NW, will provide water and treats for the four-legged attendees. Bottled water, coffee, and muffins will be available for all companions. In addition, a photographer from National City Christian Church will be in attendance to capture the event.
