We have a wonderful 4 year old mixed-breed dog who needs a new home. His name is Clancy and he is mostly American Bulldog, weighing a lean 65 lbs. We have had him for 2-1/2 years and have found him to be the most loving, cuddly dog either of us have ever known. However, we have our first baby due soon and have realized that we cannot keep Clancy and a small child. The nature of the American Bulldog causes him to be very protective of his family. In addition, Clancy was a rescue dog and we have learned that he is fearful of the rambunctious actions of normal children (although he still loves to wrestle with us!).
He is an extremely intelligent dog who is very obedient when on a leash or inside the house. His two favorite things to do are go on long runs (has gone on runs up to 15 mi!) and lay outside in the grass watching squirrels. If you let him, he will sleep in your bed with you, but he knows he needs permission.
Clancy was moved twice before he came to live us, and he took to us immediately. Because of that, we know he will make a smooth transition to a new owner. The ideal candidate will have no children or other dogs, and will have been through obedience training with other dogs. Clancy has been obedience trained and he will respond best to an experienced owner. It is difficult for us to do this, but we know he will bring joy to any family he joins.
